The Sugary Stop is more than lemonade—it’s leadership in a cup. For many youth, this is their very first experience working in a team, managing responsibilities, and interacting with customers. The best part? It’s a blast.

Your First Taste of Business Starts Here

1. Sign Up & Get Matched to Events
After applying, youth are scheduled for upcoming local events where we’ll host The Sugary Stop. Each event offers a fresh opportunity to gain hands-on experience.

2. Orientation & Onboarding
Participants attend a short onboarding session to learn about the lemonade stand setup, customer service tips, and how to rotate roles smoothly.

3. Work the Stand & Earn a Stipend
At each event, youth take full control—from setting up, preparing drinks, greeting customers, handling cash or digital payments, and cleaning up. Every shift includes a stipend as a thank-you for your hustle.

4. Learn. Earn. Repeat.
This program can be repeated throughout the year, with different community events providing new challenges and opportunities. Every time you show up, your skills grow—and so does your confidence.

At Sugary Stop, our mission is to empower youth in Colorado by providing practical entrepreneurial training and leadership opportunities. While serving up delightful beverages and snacks, we’re also helping young entrepreneurs build valuable business skills and generate income for their future endeavors.

History

It all began in 2023, when students realized that no matter the season—hot summers or chilly winters—people love refreshing, high-quality drinks. That simple insight sparked the idea for The Sugary Stop, a pop-up beverage stand offering creative, seasonal beverages with a twist.

With support from WDC mentors, the youth developed a business plan, created branding, tested recipes, and learned how to manage inventory, pricing, and customer service. By the end of the program, they weren’t just participants—they were co-founders gaining hands-on experience in running a business from the ground up.

Why It Matters

The Sugary Stop embodies WDC’s mission: empowering youth through real-world entrepreneurship, leadership development, and early exposure to professional environments. It gives young people—especially girls and youth from underrepresented backgrounds—the tools to build confidence, gain practical experience, and dream bigger.

Today, The Sugary Stop continues to operate as a youth-led LLC and serves as a model for what’s possible when young people are trusted, supported, and given the space to lead.
